Places Where People Play Sports? 2

There are many different places where people play sport! (field ,Stadium,court, Diamond, track, gym, pool, health club, slope, circuit, rink, pitch, course) But the Question is “what’s the difference between them…?”

field :soccer-field
a large area of ground, usually covered with grass, where

team sports are played:

  • a football/baseball/soccer field

Stadium:stadium

a large sports field with seats all around it for people to watch team sports or track and field competitions:

  • a football stadium

.court:tennis-court
an area with lines painted on the ground, for tennis, basketball, etc.

  • a basketball / tennis / volleyball court

Diamond:baseball-diamond
the area in a baseball field that is within the shape formed by the

four bases, also used to refer to the whole field

track:cycling-track
A track is a piece of ground which athletes, cyclists, cars, or horses race around.

  • athletics / cycling track

gym:
a large room with machines which you can use to do exercises

(swimming) pool:
a place where you can swim

.

health club:
a building where you can do various different sports

slope:ski_slope
a surface of which one end or side is higher than the other, a piece

of rising or falling ground where usually people go skiing

circuit:
A racing circuit is a track on which cares or motorbikes race.

rink:
a building with a specially prepared area with a smooth surface where you can skate:

  • an ice-skating rink

pitch:
A pitch is an area of ground that is marked out and used for playing a game such as football, cricket, or hockey.

  • football / hockey / rugby pitch

course:
an area of land or water where races are held, or an area of land designed for playing golf
